Christmas Card Design Winner Announced

Media Releases

State Member for Wallsend, Ms Sonia Hornery MP, has announced that Aiden Skaines of Beresfield Public School is the winner of the 2017 Christmas Card Design Competition.

Each year, Ms Hornery holds a competition that encourages local students to submit an entry in the competition. More than 100 entries were received this year from more than 10 local schools.

Students are asked to create a design that is relevant to the Wallsend electorate. This year there were designs covering the Wallsend Rotunda, Blue Gum Hills Regional Park, Glendale Sports Centre, the Wetlands Centre at Shortland, University of Newcastle, in and around John Hunter Hospital and Blackbutt Reserve.

The winning entry was an iconic drawing of Santa enjoying a BBQ and a coffee with some local wildlife.
