Coffee With A Cop Comes To Jesmond

Media Releases

State Member for Wallsend, Ms Sonia Hornery MP, will join local Police and the community for a Coffee With A Cop in Jesmond this morning.

Coffee With A Cop brings Police Officers and the community members they serve together, over a coffee, to discuss issues and learn more about each other.

Local residents will have an opportunity to have an informal chat with Newcastle City Police District Officers and let them know what their concerns are.

Quotes attributable to Member for Wallsend, Sonia Hornery

“It is great to be able to work with the Newcastle City Police District and bring the Coffee With A Cop initiative to Jesmond.”

“This is a great opportunity for local residents to have an informal chat with Officers about their concerns in the local area and share what’s on their mind.”

“The majority of contact Police have with the public is during emergencies or emotional situations. These situations are not always best for building relationships with the community and as a result some community members may feel that Officers are unapproachable.”

“Coffee With A Cop breaks down these barriers and allows for relaxed, one-on-one conversations.”

“I hope that members of our community will feel comfortable to ask questions, bring concerns, or simply get to know each other and our Police Officers. These interactions are the foundation of community partnerships”.
