State Member for Wallsend, Ms Sonia Hornery MP, has welcomed the announcement by the Government that a full interchange at John Hunter Hospital will be part of Stage 5 of the Newcastle Inner City Bypass.
Ms Hornery has campaigned tirelessly for funding for Stage 5 and pushed for the inclusion of a full interchange for many years.
It often takes commuters upwards of an hour to get off the John Hunter Hospital site at peak hour and this interchange will help alleviate that pressure. The new interchange will also provide alternative means of access in cases of emergency.
Stage 5 of the Newcastle Inner City Bypass from Rankin Park to Jesmond will finally complete the Bypass project and improve traffic flow across the Lower Hunter.
