The Petition brings to the attention of the House concerns about traffic and parking issues at and around the John Hunter Hospital campus. An undersupply of staff parking, a lack of viable transport alternatives and traffic congestion in the area means that it can take an hour to leave the campus at peak times. A park and ride shuttle bus would help to relieve traffic congestion and strain on local infrastructure and help elderly and sick patients reach their appointments without having to walk from distant parking spots.
The undersigned petitioners therefore ask the Legislative Assembly to ask the Government to provide funding to reinstate a park and ride shuttle bus to transport patients, staff and visitors from McDonald Jones Stadium to John Hunter Hospital.
