Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program Open

Media Releases

State Member for Wallsend, Ms Sonia Hornery MP, is encouraging local sporting groups to apply for the Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program.

The Local Sport Defibrillator Grant Program will assist sporting clubs across the Wallsend electorate in the purchase and maintenance of Automatic External Defibrillators.

An AED is a life saving device which delivers a controlled shock to an individual experiencing cardiac arrest, increasing their chances of survival.

Sporting groups will be able to choose from a panel of approved AED Panel Service Providers and a variety of AED packaged services with the level of customer service that meets their needs.

Quotes attributable to Member for Wallsend, Sonia Hornery

“I would encourage all local sporting groups to consider making an application for one of these life saving machines.”

“Modern Automatic External Defibrillators are designed to be used without any medical training and help improve the survival rate for the 33,000 Australians who experience cardiac arrest each year.”

“The program will fund up to 50 per cent of the defibrillator cost, along with training and maintenance support for club members.”

“I would love to see an Automatic External Defibrillator at every sporting facility in the Wallsend electorate. It might be the difference between life and death for someone.”

“Applications are now open and close on Wednesday, 20 December 2017.”
