State Member for Wallsend, Ms Sonia Hornery MP, will step up the campaign for funding of the Wallsend Flood Mitigation Plan when Parliament resumes today.
Ms Hornery will this week move a Notice of Motion calling on the State Government to commit to working with Newcastle City Council and deliver flood mitigation works in Wallsend.
Ms Hornery has been working very closely with Newcastle City Council and a grant application to commence flood plans by replacing the Tyrrell Street bridge was overlooked by the State Government.
It has been more than 10 years since the Pasha Bulker storm in 2007 and Newcastle City Council has plans and works in the pipeline but the Government has failed to provide any money towards the replacement of the three bridges in Wallsend.
